‘K-experience: Celebrate Korean Children’s Day 2025’

 A Stage for Celebration: Chicagoland Children’s K-Pop Competition
 Nature-Inspired Fun: Crafts and Outdoor Activities Centered on the Theme of “Trees”

The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago will host its annual Children’s Day Celebration on Saturday, May 3, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at BISCO Hall. This year, to pay homage to recent wildfires and a renewed appreciation for nature, the theme of the event is “Trees.” The program will include fun games, crafts, flower seed planting, and more. There will also be a K-pop contest and Korean snacks for everyone to enjoy. In addition, the event offers a variety of engaging opportunities to experience Korean culture firsthand—such as learning traditional games like ddakji (paper tile flipping), jegichagi (Korean hacky sack), and gonggi (stone toss), as well as trying out Korean calligraphy, wearing Hanbok, and joining a K-Pop dance experience. We invite you to take part in this vibrant celebration and kick off the month of May in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!

As part of its annual celebration of Korean Children’s Day, the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago (KCCoC) continues to share the spirit of this beloved holiday with local children through its K-experience initiative since 2021. This year, the event will feature a special K Pop Competition for children ages 12 and under, welcoming talented young performers to take the stage. Participants may compete solo or in groups of up to five members. In the spirit of family and fun, the competition also allows parents or grandparents to join as part of a group performance, making it a festive, family-centered event rather than a traditional competition.

Children who wish to participate must register in advance by April 28 via the registration link: https://bit.ly/kchildrenday2025. The final competition will take place during the Korean Children’s Day celebration on Saturday, May 3, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

This year’s Children’s Day event is made possible with the generous support of the Korean Education Center in Chicago, Korea Tourism Organization, and Wonil Food. Program operations are supported by KAN-WIN, Pureunae Creative Studio, Gabe Plus, Chicago Korean Farmers’ Group, and KCCoC’s Junior Ambassadors, promising a richer and more engaging celebration than ever before.
