시카고한인문화원 비스코홀에서 「강릉 관노가면극」 공연이 열렸습니다. 주시카고총영사관의 ‘2026 한국주간’ 행사로 강원문화재단과 협력해 마련한 이번 무대에서 청소년 전통연희팀 JOM 아라는 관노가면극을 비롯해 댕기춤, 버나놀이, 사물놀이 등을 선보였습니다. 초희무용단 홍광임 단장의 화랭이춤과 김별아 작가의 ‘한국 역사 속 여성’ 특별 강연도 이어졌습니다. 대사 없이 춤과 몸짓만으로 이야기를 풀어내는 관노가면극의 매력과 단원들의 생동감 넘치는 연희에 관객들은 뜨거운 환호와 기립박수로 화답했습니다.

BISCO Hall welcomed a full audience for the Gangneung Gwanno Mask Drama. Presented by the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago in collaboration with the Gangwon Cultural Foundation as part of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chicago’s 2026 Korean Week, the program featured youth traditional performing arts group JOM Ara performing the mask drama, folk dances, and traditional music. A Hwaraengi dance by Gwang-im Hong and a special lecture by author Byeol-ah Kim on women in Korean history rounded out the program. The performers brought the wordless drama to life through expressive dance and movement, and the audience responded with warm applause and enthusiastic cheers.
